FAQ - License and Registration Renewal Dates

In order to comply with Senate Bill 681 from the 89th legislature, TBPELS has implemented rules to renew licenses and registrations for two years. This operational change will take place during the 2026 renewal cycle.

After you renew in 2026, your next expiration date will be as follows:

We are standardizing renewal dates to occur at the end of January and July.

We are changing renewal dates such that all licenses or registrations will expire at the end of either January or July. This means that your new expiration date may be a few months later than what you would expect. Please note that this change in month will occur only once and that any additional months are applied at no additional charge.

The one-year renewal fee will remain the same. The two-year renewal fee will be twice the one-year renewal fee.

Renewal fees are listed on the TBPELS Fees webpage.

The continuing education requirements are roughly the same on a per-year basis and are detailed below.
